The training course in detail

Overall theme and context

The Social & Inclusive Business Camp (SIBC) is an acceleration and capacity-building program dedicated to entrepreneurs with social and/or environmental impact. Created in 2017 by the Campus Groupe AFD, the SIBC has already supported nearly 350 entrepreneurs in scaling their ventures, improving impact measurement, and preparing for fundraising. After seven editions across the African continent, the SIBC is now focusing on East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Rwanda) and will host 50 entrepreneurs from the region determined to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to address major challenges in the energy transition. The SIBC East Africa Energy Transition maintains its spirit of openness and inclusivity: it promotes the participation of women entrepreneurs and ensures representation for populations and territories that are often marginalized, with the goal of fostering fairer and more sustainable growth.

Training objectives

The SIBC East Africa Energy Transition is an acceleration and networking program designed to strengthen the capacities of impact-driven entrepreneurs with strong ambitions in the energy transition through a hybrid and collaborative approach. Its main objectives are :

  •     Strengthen entrepreneurial capacities by equipping participants with practical methodologies tailored to the specific challenges of East African ecosystems and the energy transition.
  •   Maximize social and environmental impact by helping entrepreneurs structure, measure, and amplify the positive effects of their initiatives.
  •   Facilitate access to financing by preparing entrepreneurs to engage with investors and donors and formalize their financial needs.
  • Develop inclusive and transformational leadership by promoting representative and inclusive governance.
  • Integrate into a dynamic and sustainable community by joining a supportive network of peers, mentors, partners, and alumni.
  • Reinforce territorial and regional anchoring by providing tools for entrepreneurs to consolidate their activities locally while preparing for scaling.

Teaching and activities

  • Six months of remote coaching on a dedicated online platform, combining interactive virtual classes with international experts and self-paced learning resources.
  • An intensive bootcamp held in Nairobi (Kenya), followed by participation in the Africa-France Summit—an exceptional opportunity for immersion, transformation, and impact.
  • Regular individual support sessions provided by local incubators in each country participating in the program.
  • Personalized mentorship opportunities, including guidance from an experienced program alumnus and a dedicated tutor for each participant.
  • Networking opportunities, through integration into a vibrant community and connections with investors and financial partners during the bootcamp.
