Registration open – A new session of the online training course “Urban Mobility in Africa”

Published on 18 April 2024

After the success of the first two editions in 2020 and 2021 the urban mobility MOOC is back!

The 3rd session of the Urban Mobility in Africa MOOC (massive open online course) starts on 16 May and will run for five weeks.

This training course is aimed at managers, decision-makers, students, urban planners, architects, technicians and, more generally, anyone interested in urban mobility issues. The course is held in French, so a good understanding of the language is helpful.

The result of a partnership between the Campus AFD, the CODATU sustainable urban mobility organisation, the Université Senghor, the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), and the MobiliseYourCity sustainable mobility partnership, this MOOC provides an understanding of the mobility challenges in Africa and an opportunity to share the knowledge and know-how of French-speaking experts.

Course Schedule

The course takes place over five weeks and each session includes four 12-minute videos. One to two hours of additional work are required each week. The course is structured around the following themes:

  • characteristics of urban mobility in Africa,
  • supply and demand for mobility,
  • governance and mobility planning,
  • financing urban mobility,
  • management of transport projects.

The course will feature different interactions between the teaching team and participants through a forum and activities. Weekly webinars are also organised to facilitate exchanges between learners, course leaders, and technical experts. Quizzes are available throughout the course to check your knowledge and assess your progress.
