Environment, social and governance: the AFD group in the world top 10

Published on 16 March 2024

Like other organizations, the AFD group is assessed by Moody’s Analytics on environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. With 74 points out of 100, the AFD group ranks in the top 10 among more than 4600 companies and establishments evaluated worldwide.

The rating of the French Development Agency group increased by one point compared to the previous year, going from 73 out of 100 in 2021 to 74 out of 100 in 2023. The ESG rating (environmental, social and governance issues) this year was on new areas such as the management of climate financial risks.

This unsolicited (and unpaid) assessment focuses specifically on ESG criteria. It thus complements the financial ratings, based mainly on economic criteria, in order to most faithfully reflect the Group’s commitments.

“These evaluations are very structuring for the AFD group because they make it possible to rate and compare the performance of companies and public issuers in terms of social responsibility,” explains Juliette Van Wassenhove, head of the Accountability, Responsibility, Transparency unit at AFD. , who is leading this exercise. The AFD group is number 1 in its category, that of specialized banks and agencies, tied with the Caisse des Dépôts, and it ranks in the top 10 of some 4,667 companies and establishments rated globally. »
